   Jul 06, 2016 01:42 PM

Broadband combo plan customers with fixed monthly charges above INR 700 per month will now be able to avail the new unlimited add-on voice pack introduced by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). These add-on packs will, however be available exclusively only in selected SSAs of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana circles.

With the voice pack of INR 48 per month customers will benefit 24 hours unlimited local calls to any network within the circle. On the other hand INR 98 per month pack offers 24 hours unlimited (local + STD) calls to any network in India. Only broadband users will be able to avail add-on voice packs for their retail use. In these packs the outgoing calls should be less than 300 unique numbers a month.

Starting from 21 March 2016, the add-on voice packs will be available for a period of 90 days on promotional basis in Jaipur SSA of Rajasthan circle, Faridabad & Gurgaon SSAs of Haryana circle, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Indore and Bhopal SSAs of Madhya Pradesh circle.

According to one of the statements by BSNL, the above mentioned voice packs are available only in the cities of the above SSA. In these circles, private operators are offering similar packs. Airtel, for example, offers similar unlimited voice calling add-on for its broadband customers at INR 49 and INR 99 respectively. In the previous year, TRAI had waived off termination charges for calls made from and to landline telephones. BSNL and Airtel have therefore introduced offers featuring unlimited calling from landline phones.

The telecom operator is expected to make an announcement about operating profit more than INR 2,000 crore in the financial year 2015-16. In the past year the company has been able to achieve success in business initiatives for individual and enterprise customers. Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL, Anupam Shrivastava “We are happy with the progress in operating profit, but cannot relax; the target is to restore BSNL to its past financial glory. We are in the process of completing unaudited results.”

Earlier in June 2016, the company had also announced its plans to expand its network in Chhattisgarh by installing 2,000 new mobile towers in the next two years. In a press conference, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Communications and IT mentioned that this will be a historical step to strengthen mobile connectivity in the state.
