BSNL Plans to Launch Lifetime Free Voice Service in January |

BSNL or Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has been reportedly planning to launch lifetime free voice service from January 2017. The state-run telecom operator expects to introduce new BSNL prepaid mobile recharge plans that will be cheaper than ones announced by Reliance Jio.
Expected Market Response to BSNL mobile top-up plans
As a consequence of the upcoming launch of BSNL mobile recharge plans, market players including Idea, Airtel, and Vodafone will be reducing their tariffs. With the aim to expand its subscriber base across the country, BSNL has been working innovatively towards the development of its new plans. However, Mumbai and Delhi will not be included as MTNL has its operations based in these circles.
Referring to the approaching new-year occasion, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director, Anupam Shrivastava told TOI that the company is planning to release lifetime free-voice plans from the new year as part of fresh offers. He also revealed that BSNL plans will be lower by INR 2-4 as compared to Jio plans.
BSNL offers as compared to what competitors are offering
Reliance Jio has recently come up with exciting data tariffs and free voice services, starting at INR 149 with a validity of one month. From January 1, the tariffs will be applicable and till December 31, 2016, the current services will be offered for free. However, Jio will be offering services only to 4G customers and on the other hand BSNL plans will be available for 2G as well as 3G users and this will cover majority of mobile service users.
According to the report, BSNL customers will be able to avail its latest plans through their home based broadband connection. The operator will use the home broadband connection to route outgoing mobile calls through the landline network. Shrivastava said “We estimate that a large amount of time is spent at home, and so here we can ride on our wire-line operations.” At present the company has a strong market penetration and share in key markets including UP, Punjab, Odisha, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Kerala.
