DishTV Releases New STB called DishNXT HD |

With an objective of enhancing its HD TV experience, Dish TV recently announced new offers. Asia’s largest DTH brand, Dish TV has brought forth its ‘HD for all initiative’ under which Dish TV will commit itself to provide HD channel access to all its subscribers. The DTH operator has also issued its new generation HD STB (Set Top Box) ‘DishNXT HD’.

With the launch of Dish NXT HD, Dish TV will now eliminate the SD-HD divide as all the boxes provided by the company will be HD enabled. The basic purpose of the latest introductions is to let the subscribers enjoy the HD experience. The company has also done a partial adoption of the TRAI tariff order. It also launched ‘Mera Apna Pack’ that let the customers choose their favorite HD channel for just INR 17 + GST.
In a press statement, the company mentioned that their move was in line with the TRAI objective of empowering consumers and providing content as per customer choice. “With this innovative proposition, DishTV becomes the first DTH player in India to offer HD channels with all its popular packs. Now effectively for as low as at Rs.169+ tax, customers can experience HD viewing” said the statement.
It’s new cardless Set Top Box, DishNXT HD is designed to offer 5 times better picture quality, multi-lingual support, new user interface and graphics. The box comes with smart chip technology and eliminates the need for a separate viewing card.
Mr. Anil Dua, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Dish TV stated that the HD space has been fast evolving and making significant entry into the Indian household. “With a sharp focus on HD, this move aims at bridging the gap between the SD and HD subscribers and taking away the inhibitions involved in switching from SD to HD.” Added Dua.
According to Dish TV there are 12.8 million HD households which gives a clear opportunity to DTH operators as there is a huge potential of HD subscribers in the next five to six years. “With new clean, intuitive user Interface, fast navigation and ease of controls, DishNXT HD is a game changer in the Direct to Home entertainment, offering unmatched HD TV viewing experience” said Mr Sukhpreet Singh, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Dish TV.
