Vodafone India Announces the Launch of One Hour 2G Unlimited Data |

After the successful launch of Airtel’s Cyber café data packs featuring unlimited data for 1 hour at INR 5, Vodafone India has recently introduced a new 2G unlimited data pack for INR 7. At this cost the 2G data pack offers unlimited access for 1 hour. The competitive strategy of launching similar plan thus continues. Idea Cellular is also expected to come up with similar plans soon.
To subscribe to this plan, users need to dial *444*7# through USSD or through E-TOP. Once done, the subscriber will receive a confirmation of the recharge within 15 minutes. The benefit, however, will be credited into the account within 4 hours. By dialing *111*6# one can check the available balance mins of the pack. After exhausting the available data balance, the customer can activate the data pack many times. However, the benefits of the unlimited data pack shall be applicable only when connected to Vodafone network.
One can download up to 100MB data in an hour’s time at the maximum speed of 236kbps 2G EDGE data. However, practically the speed can go up to 150kbps and customers can use about 50MB. 2G Data packs within the same price range (INR 5 - INR 7) come with 1 days validity and offer approximately 35MB of data. This reduces the scope for a 2G one hour unlimited data pack.
For existing and new prepaid customers in all circles on India, Vodafone had lately launched ‘U’ packs that targeted the youth segment. ‘U’ packs feature lower call rates, 3G/4G internet, unlimited music and video content from Vodafone music and more. In an attempt to present itself as a youth oriented operator, Vodafone seeks to provide premium quality and bundled prepaid offering.
Vodafone is the country’s second largest telecom operator and has approximately 10,000 stores of different sizes across India. Amazon India, as an initiative to extend its offline presence in the country, has recently entered into an agreement with Vodafone to offer touch-and-feel experience of smartphones like One-Plus 3.
